The Research Group on “Human dignity : a global constitutional principle”, « la dignité humaine: un principe constitutionnel mondial » has been founded on the basis of the presentations and discussions at the plenary sessions and workshops on the following main subjects of the 10th World Congress of IACL held in Seoul in June 2018;

This Research Group will explore the concept, the signification and the meaning of the human dignity and the universal concept of constitutionalism for the adequate constitutional dimension, the universal methodology and the research for the human dignity as a global constitutional principle. This Research Group would like to research, develop and contribute to the above researches as one of the ultimate and fundamental solutions in the 21st century for the actual world-wide new challenges to the traditional constitutionalism in such many fields as in the world politics, armed conflicts, terrorism and violence, global geopolitical tensions, regional confrontations, various types of violent conflicts requiring the particular solutions for the peace-building and the protection of the fundamental human rights .
The Research Group will study the appropriate global response to COVID-19 shocks as a pressing challenge to the human dignity as a global constitutional principle. We will research, develop and contribute to the researches on the impact of Covid-19 on human dignity and the world constitutional order with experience from the respective countries and from the world and will do our best to find an appropriate global response to the COVID-19 impact with the urgent challenge such as social equality, educational equality to overcome the cause of social injustice and the issue of balancing between the usage and the protection of personal information etc. based on the global constitutional principles and the universality of human dignity and fundamental human rights from the philosophical and realistic point of view.
The research group will also collaborate on the following constitutional tasks: Constitutional challenges of the 21st century, including the Constitution and fundamental human rights, Universality of human dignity and Fundamental human rights, Democracy and human rights, Populism and Constitutional theory, Constitutional Education and Global Citizenship Education, the European Union Constitution and Global Constitutional Principles, Comparative federalism, National sovereignty and Fundamental human rights , Human dignity in the medical sector (ex. compulsory hospitalization according to life-sustaining treatment), child abuse and refugee issues, European Union Constitution and the Debate on the World Constitution, Universality of Human Dignity and World Constitution etc.
The research group will work in solidarity with international organizations and international research organizations for human dignity, fundamental human rights and global constitutional principles, such as the United Nations Human Rights Council, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights. (FRA) and World Constitution and Parliament Association (WCPA) etc., to carry out the above-mentioned joint research in an international and practical manner.

This Research Group will continue to work with all its members and all IACL members to undertake a number of collaborative research activities consistent with the objectives set out above. The subject of study of this Research Group is very fundamental and broad in the field of constitutional law. Therefore, your intuition about the direction and content of our collaborative research is highly desired.
First of all, what we can and should do in the first step is to gather a lot of research results from around the world and in your country that are consistent with the purpose of this research group 's research. It would be a great honor if you and all of our members and IACL members would join us actively.
